The Institute for Legal Research of the Universidad Autónoma de México – UNAM and the Follow-up Mechanism of the Convention of Belém do Pará (MESECVI), in light of the serious context of gender violence against women in Mexico and throughout the region, developed the International Standards Course on the human right of women to a life free of violence, in Mexico City, designed for legal training and specialization in women’s human rights. The course, organized in modules, is intended for lawyers who work in different areas – the judiciary, prosecutors, the legislative field, teaching, and research.

Leila Linhares Barsted, member of the MESECVI Committee of Experts, lectured, on October 18th, in virtual mode, Module III on Feminicide Violence, when she highlighted the duty of diligence of the OAS States Parties to prevent and eradicate gender violence against women. She also presented the work being done by the Inter-American Commission of Women – CIM and the MESECVI to implement the Convention of Belém do Pará.
