On March 3rd, Leila Linhares Barsted, from CEPIA, participated in the live Chat with Inês Pandeló, talking about the concept of public policies, the inclusion of the paradigm of the universality of individual and social rights in the Brazilian Constitution of 1988. Leila drew attention to the advances in policies for women in the 1980s and 2000s, highlighting the perspective of the integrality of public gender policies expressed in the Pro Gender Equity Plans and the Confrontation Pact against Women, arising from the demands of women’s movements and NGOs and from the performance, from 2003 onwards, of the Special Secretariat of Policies for Women – SPM of the federal government, calling attention to the setbacks in the realization of these important milestones in the current government.
