CEPIA expresses its solidarity to the 10-year-old girl who is the victim of rape by an uncle and warns of the scale of sexual violence against girls in Brazil and to the helplessness and vulnerability of these victims, prevented by religious forces and secular extremists from terminating the pregnancy, forcing them to undergo pregnancies that violate their dignity and physical and mental health.
Since 1940 it has not been a criminal offense to interrupt pregnancy in this circumstance. Since 1940 women and girls have had their health rights doubly violated: by the rapist and by the judicial and health institutions that refuse to obey the law.
That’s enough!
