Training of facilitators: empowerment and promotion of women’s political participation

Training of trainers program, carried on since 2004, is focused on strengthening women’s leadership and to train women to act as facilitators of workshops following a participatory and inclusive methodology. It addresses issues related to horizontal leadership, women’s political participation, sexual and reproductive rights, violence against women, communication strategies, and other issues related to gender equality. More than seven hundred women already participated on the workshops coming from various backgrounds including collectors of recyclable materials, community leaders, public managers, teachers, health professionals, representatives of collectives and feminist groups, young leaders, among others.

Held in partnership with the international organization Women’s Learning Partnership for Rights, Development and Peace (WLP), based on participatory and horizontal methodology and with the use of specific manuals tested and adapted to the Brazilian context, the program has already had participation of women from Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde and Chile.
