Fundação Getúlio Vargas’s Diversity Program held, on November 22nd, the seminar “More Women in Politics”, which was attended by Cathy Allen (National Women’s Political Caucus President, The Connections Group, Inc. Co-founder, Center for Women & Democracy), Clara Araújo, professor at The State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), Ligia Fabris professor at FGV Law Rio, Leila Linhares Barsted, CEPIA Executive Coordinator, Tainá de Paula, urbanist architect, Silvana Batini of the Electoral Public Prosecutor and professor at FGV Law Rio, Fernanda Papa, from UN Women and Luciana Lassio, lawyer and former Minister Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
In this Seminar were presented international strategies to expand women’s political participation, the history of feminist movements in Brazil aimed at enhancing women’s presence in the legislature, political violence against women, advances in Supreme Court of Justice (STF) and Superior Electoral Court (TSE) decisions to increase resources for women’s candidacies and prevent party fraud and the prosecution’s role in the electoral process.
