CEPIA, represented by its executive director Leila Linhares Barsted, attended the seminar “Legislative Reforms in Criminal Matters”, held at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation on March 20th, 2019.
At the time, the book “Why does the legislator want to increase sentences? Legislative criminal populism in the Chamber of Deputies: analysis of the justifications of legislative propositions in the period from 2006 to 2014”, by Professor André Mendes, researcher and coordinator of the Legal Practice Center of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation. The event aimed to discuss proposals for change in Brazilian criminal law in the current context of the criminal justice system and the direction of criminal policy.
