On September 3, the video Mais Armas Mais Feminicidio (More Guns More Feminicide) was launched. The video aims to alert society to the risk of increasing female deaths with the increase in the number of firearms in households. The video, conceived by the 4D Feminist Group, 4 Decades of Feminism, released with a debate at the Maison de France in Rio de Janeiro, was supported by the Agora é que são Elas (Now Is That They Are group) and the pro bono work of directors, actors and actresses and the creative team of the advertising company R&Y and support and direct participation of CEPIA in all stages of the production.
The launch event was opened by Consul Jean-Paul Guihaumé.
The opening table was attended by Rommann Datus, Director of the French Institute of Brazil, Daniel Cerqueira, Ipea Researcher and Atlas of Violence Coordinator, Antonia Pellegrino, writer and screenwriter and Jacqueline Pitanguy, representing CEPIA and a member of the 4D Group. The moderation came from journalist Helena Celestino, also a member of the 4D Group. Participants, from various areas of expertise, reinforced the causality between increased firearms and increased violence, but also the fact that many women can survive when domestic violence does not involve firearms. They also warned of the growing number of cases of femicide in Brazil, which, in the first half of 2019 alone, increased by 40% when compared to the number of records from the previous year.
