On October 23rd and 24th, Maria Amélia Telles was honored in two significant events in Rio de Janeiro. On October 23rd, the Faculty of Law at UFRJ paid tribute to Maria Amélia, a key figure behind the Popular Legal Promoters Project, with the launch of two books: Cela 3, which recounts her experience during the military dictatorship, and Amelinha Teles – É na luta que a gente se encontra, a collection organized by professors Cristiane Brandão Augusto and Mariana Trotta Dallalana Quintans, celebrating her 80 years of fighting for democracy. Leila Linhares Barsted represented CEPIA at the event. On October 24th, at the Noble Hall of the Rio de Janeiro City Council, Councilwoman Luciana Boiteaux honored Maria Amélia with the Pedro Ernesto Medal, recognizing her political resistance. Leila Linhares Barsted also participated in the ceremony as a member of the speakers’ panel.
