The International Conference on Population and Development, held in Cairo in September 1994, was a milestone in the defense of human rights, especially those of women. On that occasion, 179 countries committed to guaranteeing reproductive health, gender equality and education for everyone, placing well-being and individual rights at the center of public policies. In 2024, we celebrate 30 years of this event. Despite the challenges, the advances show the importance of continuing to fight for sexual and reproductive rights. Celebrating the global commitment to transforming this vision into reality, CEPIA launched the publication Cairo no Cotidiano – Comunicação na defesa dos direitos humanos das mulheres ( Cairo in everyday life – communication in defense of women’s human rights), one of the consequences of a training with the same name, carried out in 2023 with communicators from all over Brazil. Download now on the CEPIA website and understand Cairo’s legacy and how it remains present in our daily lives.
