On August 27th, the Fluminense Federal University held the August Purple 2024 Seminar to Raise Awareness and Combat Violence against Women, coordinated by Professor Paula Curi and aimed at professionals from the Women’s Reference Centers (CEAMs) in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Leila Linhares Barsted was one of the speakers at the seminar and highlighted the advances in the implementation of the Maria da Penha Law, especially initiatives by the National Council of Justice such as the Protocol with Judgments with a Gender Perspective and Law 14550/2023, which strengthens the Emergency Protective Measures of this Law, as well as listing some of the obstacles to the implementation of this legislation.
