Celebrating 10 years of its empowerment and training program for adolescents and young people, CEPIA held on June 27th the event Straight forward talk: adolescences, health and rights, a very powerful meeting bringing together more than 60 adolescents and young people who participate in our program, as well as representatives from the areas of education and health. The event held at the Calouste Gulbenkian Arts Center was designed based on contributions from adolescents that have attended previous workshops held by CEPIA to plan the event.

The event was mediated by CEPIA’s youth team and its agenda included two chat tables, one with adult participation aiming to reflect on the program’s trajectory, the partnerships, impacts and perspectives and another session composed by teenagers and young people inviting them to reflect on protagonism and peer education and how to strengthen dialogue between educators (s) and students.  The program also included 3 circuits (short hand on workshops) with peer facilitation on the topics of teenage pregnancy, racism and prejudice and life skills: life project. At the end, CEPIA partner LadyB treated us to a poem sung and the closure included a farewell lunch.

We would like to thank the fundamental partnership and presence of the Health at School Program of the Municipal Department of Education, the RAP da Saúde of the Municipal Department of Health, the Municipal Schools Orlando Villas Boas, Baden Powell and George Pfisterer, the Colégio Estadual Julia Kubitschek with the Projeto Sem Vergonha and the Instituto Cultura Urbana.
