The Population and Development Commission (CPD) met between April 29 and May 3 at the United Nations in New York to celebrate 30 years of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in 1994 in Cairo. The Brazilian delegation, led by diplomat Minister Claudia de Angelo Barbosa, also included diplomats Gustavo Westmann, who works at the General Secretariat of the Government, and João Dias, at the Brazilian Mission at the UN, with Raphael Moraes from IBGE and Jacqueline Pitanguy and Richarlls Martins, representatives of civil society.  The UN declaration on the 30th anniversary of the ICPD can be accessed here.
Jacqueline Pitanguy was invited by Ambassador Noemi Espinoza, President of the 57th CPD Meeting, to present, to a group of women, her perspective on women’s participation in Cairo 94. in a dialogue on Women’s Leadership in Multilateralism.
