On July 1st, the Master Program in Law (PPGD) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro held a seminar on Social Movements, Gender and Emancipatory Struggles, as part of the subject Justice System, Human Rights and Social Movements, coordinated by Professor Mariana Trotta.
Leila Linhares Barsted (CEPIA), Luciene Lacerda (State Forum of Black Women), Henrique Rebelo (President of the OAB-RJ Diversity Commission and professor at EMERJ) and Monique Zuma (Olga Benário Movement and Casa Almerinda Gama) took part as speakers. The seminar set out to debate with postgraduate students the perspectives of social movements and the challenges of the rights of the LGBTQIAP+ community, based on the struggle for rights, won through collective and popular organization and denunciation of the violations suffered by this group.
