On May 29th, the event Sexual violence against children and adolescents: advances, setbacks and perspectives took place, held by FEPETI/RJ, of which CEPIA is part. The meeting, which was held at the Brazilian Academy of Letters, within the framework of the Campaign for the National Day to Combat Sexual Violence against Children and Adolescents, brought together teenagers and young people from various institutions, representatives from various municipalities in Rio de Janeiro, the state government, in addition to other institutions. CEPIA, represented by Andrea Romani, was at the opening table. Andrea highlighted the need to respond to the alarming number of pregnant girls under 14 years old, victims of rape. The  session  Views of Adolescents and Young People about the  Services in  place to assist victims of sexual violence,  was moderated by Débora Pinheiro, representing CEPIA.

The event aimed to provide an overview of the situation of sexual violence against children and adolescents in the country, with contributions from professor Maria Lúcia Leal from the University of Brasília, as well as reflect on how to improve the assistance services for children and adolescents in situations of violence.  The voice of young people was very powerful and diverse, highlighting the importance that the mobilizations to combat sexual violence be a year long commitment and and the need to always engage the youth in this debate.
