The Ministry of Women, through the National Secretariat for Combating Violence against Women and the Permanent Forum for Dialogue with the Justice System, held a meeting of the Interinstitutional Working Group on Protective Measures under the Maria da Penha Law on April 29th, in Brasilia, with the aim of strengthening institutional coordination to implement protocols and guidelines for procedures that speed up emergency protective measures.

The agenda of the meeting included reports from the Forum and the presentation and debate of the research on Urgent Protective Measures (MPU) with the analysis of the results of the exploratory survey of the justice system on the granting of these measures. Wânia Pasinato, Leila Linhares Barsted and Myllena Calasans presented and debated the results of the research, carried out by the Maria da Penha Law Consortium and coordinated by CEPIA, for the period 2021-2022.

With the aim of inter-institutional action, the Working Group brought together representatives from the National Council of Justice (CNJ), the National Forum of Judges of Domestic and Family Violence Against Women (FONAVID), the Permanent Commission to Combat Domestic and Family Violence Against Women of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (COPEVID), the Public Defender’s Office, UN Women, the University of Brasilia and the Maria da Penha Law Consortium. This Working Group will hold regular meetings in order to strengthen its work in the justice system.
