In Brazil, there is a profile of people criminalized for abortion: They are women. They are mostly black women. And most of them are in vulnerable situations, poor, with low education and living in peripheral areas.

Today, September 28th is the Latin American and Caribbean Day of Struggle for the Decriminalization and Legalization of Abortion. To mark the date, CEPIA joins initiatives developed by various organizations and collectives in the onda verde  for the human dignity of women and girls, for sexual and reproductive autonomy and the right to choose.

As long as abortion is criminalized, there will be no full democracy.
