The event Do it Right – protect our children and adolescents, organized by the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CMDCA-Rio) and by the Municipal Department of Social Assistance, took place on May 30, at the Public Defender’s Office in Rio de Janeiro. The event was attended by more than 200 people, including teenagers and young people. CEPIA, was a co-organizer of the event and was represented by Andrea Romani, Gabriel Brandão and Kézia Sampaio.
The event was held under the initiatives about May 18, the National Day to Combat Sexual Violence against Children and Adolescents and it aimed to bring an intersectional approach to the situation of sexual violence against adolescents, including adolescents with disabilities, indigenous adolescents, trans teenagers and black adolescents.
The closing panel was composed by adolescents and youth. They highlighted the relevance of having their voices heard about their experiences, challenges and ideas on how to struggle against sexual violence.
