Leila Linhares Barsted participated, on May 10th , in the online seminar Estrategias para abordar el retroceso de los derechos de las mujeres y avances para poner fim al acoso sexual contra las mujeres en América Latina, promoted by UN Women.
The following speakers were present: Luz Patricia Mejía, Technical Secretary of the Follow-up Mechanism of the Convention of Belém do Pará (MESECVI) from the Organization of American States (OAS), Beatriz Quintero, Coordinator of the Red Nacional Colombiana de Mujeres y Vocera del Movimiento Causa Justa, Yunuhen Rangel Medina, Coordinator of Internet Feminista, Colectivo Luchadoras and member of the Red Internacional de Periodistas con Visión de Género, from Mexico.
During this event, the panelists shared their perspectives on the setbacks in women’s rights, including the right to live free of violence in Latin America. They also discussed some examples of successful strategies to address the challenges posed in Latin America in defending these rights.
