Cepia, a civil society organization committed to the defense of democracy and human rights, expresses its deepest repudiation of the terrorist acts perpetrated by extreme right-wing criminals who attacked the democratic state of law on January 8. The Supreme Federal Court, the National Congress and the Presidential Palace were attacked, destroying these symbolic buildings and foundations of democracy.
Cepia also expresses its perplexity on the ease way by which these criminals carried out their mission of destruction, exposing the complacency of the forces responsible for defending State institutions and the public and historical heritage of Brazil, and who, by omission or collusion, tried to threaten our democracy.
