Mahnaz Afkhami, President and founder of Women’s Learning Partnership (WLP), have recently launched the book The Other Side of Silence: A Memoir of Exile, Iran, and the Global Women’s Movement. In the book, Mahnaz reflects on her time as the first and only Minister of Women’s Affairs in Iran and her life in exile following the Iranian Revolution in 1979. She recounts how she and other gender justice advocates from the Global South connected through a common vision for a peaceful, just, and equitable world, and how their collaboration led to the founding of Women’s Learning Partnership, an international women’s partnership joined by CEPIA. Mahnaz’s memoir will certainly help us to make parallels between the Iranian Revolution and what we are witnessing today with Iranian women fighting for freedom.
The book is available in English.
