Reaffirming their commitment to democracy, women’s organizations such as AMB/RJ, CAMTRA, CEPIA, Colectivo Feminista 4 D, Colectivo Feminista do PSOL, Coletivo Juntas, CRIOLA, GRAM, PEITAMOS, REDEH and UBM called for the reading of the Letter to Brazilians in Defense of the Democratic Rule of Law, next to the Marielle Franco’s statue in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
Jacqueline Pitanguy stressed that democracy is like oxygen and that without it we cannot breathe and invited Nair Jane Castro Lima, in her 90s, representing the strength of the struggles of domestic workers and the young anthropologist Marina Fonseca to read the letter.
