The Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) of the Organization of American States (OAS) promoted on August 4th the webinar The Situation of Women in the Region, organized jointly with the Permanent Representation of Peru to the OAS, aimed at defining the central axes of the women’s agenda for the 52nd General Assembly of the OAS, to be held in Lima, Peru, in October 2022.
Leila Linhares Barsted, member of the MESECVI Committee of Experts, participated in this webinar which had, as main speaker, the anthropologist and feminist activist Rita Segato, who launched a series of questions, challenges and reflections on why the state advances are not able to change violence against women? Why do laws do not take hold in concrete life, nor in symbolic terms?
