The Women’s Union of São Paulo promoted, on September 4th, the event Commemoration of the 35 Years of the Brazilian Women’s Letter to the Constituents, coordinated by Amelinha Teles, founder of the Women’s Union and Coordinator of the Popular Legal Promoters Project, with the participation of Iaris Cortês, from CFEMEA, and Leila Linhares Barsted, from CEPIA. This event recalled the role of feminist lawyers in the constituent process and in the elaboration of the Brazilian Women’s Letter to the Constituents. Leila Barsted highlighted the importance of the Women’s Commissions in the various Sections of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), especially the Women’s Commission of the Rio de Janeiro Section. Iaris Cortês recalled with emotion her work on the National Council for Women’s Rights (CNDM) and her intense advocacy with the constituent deputies.
