The atlas-violence-2021-v6, organized by the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) and the Brazilian Public Security Forum (FBSP) portrays violence in Brazil, pointing out an important increase in violent deaths of undetermined cause in 2019. This year, in addition to data on violence against women and, in particular, against black women, the Atlas brings two new sections dealing with violence affecting two specific populations: people with disabilities and indigenous people. In introducing these new themes, it was considered appropriate to begin the sections with relevant elements for understanding the violence suffered by these groups.
