The National School for the Training of Magistrates – ENFAM, in the context of its Women’s Human Rights Course, promoted on August 25th, a roundtable discussion between judges, in the class Domestic Violence and the Criminal Justice System, coordinated by Judge Adriana Ramos de Mello, of the I Court of Domestic and Family Violence of the Court of Rio de Janeiro. Leila Linhares Barsted participated in this round of conversation debating the history of feminist struggles in Brazil, the paradigmatic importance of the Maria da Penha Law and the need for advances in the areas of prevention of gender violence and in the implementation of policies of attention to women, as well as the need for the judiciary to overcome stereotypes and prejudices in relation to women who seek access to justice.
