The School of the Public Defender’s Office of the State of São Paulo and the Coordinator of Women in Situations of Domestic and Family Violence of the Judiciary of São Paulo promoted, on August 13 th, the Seminar 10 years of the Alyne Pimentel Case: maternal mortality, racism and obstetric violence. Leila Linhares Barsted participated in this seminar as a speaker presenting the history of violations of sexual and reproductive rights of Brazilian women, the data of maternal death, mostly preventable deaths, the decision of CEDAW that condemned the Brazilian State as responsible for the death of Alyne Pimental, a young black woman who died because of the neglect of the health network of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
