The Extension Course on Human Rights Approaches in Health, promoted by IESC/UFRJ (Collective Health Research Institute from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) held its last class on July 27th, closing a cycle of lectures, conversations and case studies, gathering students from all over the country and from different disciplines. On July 6th Jacqueline Pitanguy and Leila Barsted spoke, respectively, about the configuration of the new paradigm of health as a human right and about national laws and policies in the field of reproductive health.
At the end of the course, Professor Richard Parker spoke about the new architecture of global health in the 21st century and the complexity of interests and actors that characterize this architecture. Professor Miriam Ventura presented a memoir of the course, highlighting themes, social categories, research presented and debated in the various classes. Jacqueline Pitanguy accompanied the various sessions of the course and, at its conclusion, emphasized its quality and thanked IESC/UFRJ, for having CEPIA as a partner in this relevant initiative.
