The State Council for Women’s Rights – CEDIM/RJ promoted a webinar, on July 19th, to discuss the use of Family Constellation by the judiciary in cases involving domestic and family violence against women. This event was attended by coordinators of women’s advocacy organizations from all the municipalities in the state of Rio de Janeiro and CEDIM’s counselors.
Leila Linhares Barsted, representing CEPIA, and psychologist Cecília Soares, both from CEDIM’s Security Commission, participated as speakers in this webinar. Leila pointed out that the practices of the so-called Family Constellation remove the appreciation of gender violence against women from the public sphere, hurt the Maria da Penha Law, and can be characterized as a kind of outsourcing of the judiciary by professionals from the private sphere.
