On June 30th, the Municipal Chamber of Maricá held a Public Hearing to discuss the increase in femicide rates in Brazil. Leila Linhares Barsted participated as an exhibitor, highlighting how femicide corresponds to the devaluation of women in Brazilian society, aggravated by racial and class discrimination. Leila called attention to the need to implement the integrality of the Maria da Penha Law, with a broad focus on public policies aimed at overcoming racial and gender discrimination and promoting values ​​based on respect for the dignity of the human person in its diversity.
