The Women’s Security Commission of the State Council for Women’s Rights – CEDIM-RJ held a meeting on June 22nd to discuss its concern with the use of practices of the so-called “family constellation” in cases of domestic and family violence against women, in disagreement with the Maria da Penha Law, which prohibits the use of a mediation mechanism in crimes committed with domestic violence against women.
From this meeting, the Commission prepared a Technical Note summarizing its concerns about a possible outsourcing of justice, which would mean a setback in the feminist struggle against gender violence. Leila Linhares Barsted, from CEPIA, participated in this meeting as a member of the Committee on Women’s Safety.
