On January 27, the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights from Harvard University held the meeting The State of Human Rights: 2020 Reflections and Lessons Learned. The meeting involved a dialogue between FXB Center Director, Dr. Mary Bassett and Dr Tialeng Mofokeng from South Africa, who was appointed in 2020 as the United Nations Rapporteur on the Right to Health.

The patterns of structural inequality and racism and the way they affect Covid-19 infection and mortality, the precariousness of human rights, as well as the social determinants of health, both material and symbolic, as well as the idea of ​​white supremacy, were debated. Jacqueline Pitanguy, who is part of the Editorial Board of the Health and Human Rights magazine of this Center, attended this dialogue.
