The newspaper “O Globo” published, on February 2nd, article about the effectiveness of Protective Measures, provided for in the Maria da Penha Law, which counted with an interview given by Leila Linhares Barsted. Leila defends the importance of Protective Measures, stressing also the need for a safety net that involves, besides justice and security, psychological and social support services to women victims of violence. She also highlights the importance of support from family and neighbors.
“Protective measures have played an important role in saving women’s lives and helping them break free from violent relationships. But we must also ensure a wider safety net, with public centers providing psychological, legal and social support to victims.”
